Piano Lessons (Beginners & Improvers) in Chessington and Nearby Areas
Whether you’re starting from scratch or returning to the piano after a long break, I offer friendly, structured piano lessons that build real confidence, without pressure or fuss.
My teaching is ideal for beginners and improvers (including adults – it’s never too late to learn) who want to learn solid fundamentals, develop good habits, and enjoy making music from the very first lessons.
I teach from my home in Chessington (KT9) with parking available, and welcome students from Kingston-upon-Thames, Surbiton, New Malden and Worcester Park (and nearby areas such as Cheam and Epsom).

Who these piano lessons are for
These lessons are a great fit if you are:
A complete beginner (child or adult)
An “improver” who can play a little but wants to progress properly
Returning after years away and want to rebuild technique and confidence
Working towards early-to-mid grades and want clear, steady guidance
A parent looking for a calm, encouraging teacher who builds strong foundations.
Children, adults, and confidence
I teach both children and adults. For younger students, lessons are structured but friendly, with clear goals and achievable progress. For adults, lessons are practical, supportive, and paced to fit real life.
Many people believe they’re “too old” to learn piano – they’re not. What matters most is a steady plan and a teacher who keeps things moving without overwhelming you.
FAQ:
Do I need a piano before I start?
Ideally yes – even a basic digital piano can work well at the beginning. If you’re not sure what to buy, I can advise.
How often should I have lessons as a beginner?
Weekly is ideal for momentum, especially at the start. Some students do fortnightly once they’re established.
Can you teach adults who feel they’re “not musical”?
Absolutely. Most progress comes from simple, consistent steps and a clear plan.
Do you teach complete beginners?
Yes, beginners are very welcome, and lessons are designed to build confidence quickly.
Do you teach music theory as well?
Yes, theory can be included naturally within piano lessons, and I also teach it separately where needed.
Areas I teach:
Chessington (KT9), Kingston-upon-Thames, Surbiton, New Malden, Worcester Park, plus nearby Cheam and Epsom.
